We have put together our guide to mobile marketing, a quick look through some of the basics that you should know before you embark on this cost effective, and efficient method of promoting your brand.
Beginner Rule 01.
Have a goal in mind
The trick to any good marketing campaign is that you know what you want to achieve. Without a goal, then there is a good chance that you won’t get anywhere. The thing to remember about SMS marketing is that there are a variety of different ways that you can use it, and this changes the approach you may take.
Sometimes you may want to bring more people to your website, or you may want to create more awareness around your brand. You may be trying to encourage customers to enter into a competition, or simply purchase a product that you have. Some companies even use texts to announce a sale and promotion, or to remind their customers of appointments that they have made. The possibilities really are endless.
Beginner Rule 02.
Know your audience
Another key part of marketing is to know who you want to be your customer. Having this knowledge means that you can target your efforts much better. There are a variety of things that you can find out about your customers, before splitting them down into groups. This includes location, income, hobbies and age.
Once you know who your key demographic is, you can create a message that is going to appeal to them, rather than wasting money sending marketing texts to everyone.
Beginner Rule 03.
Get the message right
One of the most difficult things to get right when you are sending out marketing texts is the text itself. You won’t want to make it too long as this takes away from the short, sharp and clear nature of a text message.
That said, you don’t want it to be too short, as this won’t have all the information that your customer is going to need. Instead, you want to make sure it is just right. Explain what you are selling, how to claim and of course who you are!
A great way to make sure that the message says just what you need it to is to send it yourself before the big unveiling. This not only allows you to have another check point for mistakes, but lets you see how it is going to look to your customers.
Beginner Rule 04.
Get the timing right
Once you are ready to send your text, you will want to make sure that it has maximum impact. To do this you should schedule it to be sent at a time when it is most likely to be read, and actioned. There is no good sending out a promotion on your takeaway menu at 8am, much like there is no point telling customers that you have a great sale at 11pm. If you get the timing right then you are sure to reap the rewards.
